Martina Macko - soprano
Soprano Martina Macko studied opera singing and acting at the K. Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, Poland, under Professor Henryka Januszewska-Stańczyk; she graduated from the Academy in the role of Despina in W. A. Mozart´s Cosi fan tutte and took part in a lot of specialized vocal courses (Polish and French song, Baroque and Classicist music, French opera arias, etc.). Along with her concert activities, she is currently Professor at the P. J. Vejvanovský Conservatory in Kroměříž. Already as a student she became of a member of the Brno Madrigal Quintet. With this ensemble she performed works by Martinů, Zelenka and Orlando di Lasso in the Czech Republic, Germany and Austria; she also recorded a CD for the German label Marimba Classics (C. Monteverdi - Madrigals). The soprano concentrates on concert performance of oratorios and sacred compositions co-operating with various orchestras, conductors and instrumentalists, as well as concert performance of song cycles, both in the Czech Republic and abroad (Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, France, Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain). Her repertoire includes soprano parts in compositions such as Magnificat by J. Rutter, Exsultate, Jubilate by W. A. Mozart, Carmina burana by C. Orff, the Psalm 112 by G. F. Haendel, In furore by A. Vivaldi, Te Deum by M. A. Charpentier, the Mass in B-Mayor by J. V. H. Voříšek, Missa brevis by J. Pavlica, Te Deum and Stabat Mater by A. Dvořák, etc. In 2001 she became a founding member of the Belladonna Trio, a all-female chamber ensemble. The Trio focuses mostly on interpretation of Baroque music, appears in period costumes and is a regular guest at festivals both in the Czech Republic and abroad. In 2009 became a member of the Bel Canto Trio ensemble (guitar, flute, vocal). She is frequently invited to take part as a member of jury in different international or domestic vocal competitions.
